Meet Big Blue, a two-metre bronze Australian Cattle Dog celebrating the Blue Heeler's Upper Hunter roots.

Under the wide blue skies of the Upper Hunter stands Big Blue, a tribute to the heart and heritage of rural Australia. At two metres high and half a tonne, this bronze sculpture by renowned artist Brett Garling celebrates the Australian Cattle Dog and its deep roots in the region.

Affectionately known as ‘Bluey’ or ‘Hunter’, the figure honours the hardworking Blue Heeler, a breed that helped shape pastoral life in the Hunter Valley and beyond. First commemorated in 2001, the current sculpture was unveiled in 2016 as a larger-than-life tribute. Dog lovers, art fans and country explorers alike shouldn’t miss this symbol of loyalty, grit and the bond between people and their four-legged mates.
