When: 16 & 17 May 2020
Where: St Heliers Exhibition Grounds, Muswellbrook
Due to the latest developments around COVID-19 and its impact on events and festivals the St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Days is cancelled for 2020.
St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Days has been enthralling the public both young and old since 1996. We are proud to display and demonstrate the use of our horses to the community and educate them on how they were an important part of developing Australia back in the eighteen and nineteen hundreds.
The event is held at the St Heliers Exhibition Grounds, St Heliers Rd, Muswellbrook every year in May, and is only a five minute drive north of Muswellbrook in the Hunter Valley.
For the heavy horse owner the competition is open to all heavy horse breeds and runs over 2 days. Events include lead, ridden, slide obstacle, ploughing, long reining, log snig, heritage and show horse drawn vehicles, pumpkin snatch, work day challenge and a few more.
There is plenty for the public to see over the 2 days with classes starting at 8.30am Saturday and Sunday and finishing at approx. 4.30pm on Saturday and 2.00pm on Sunday with presentation to follow. There are stall holders selling arts and craft, antiques, leather work and memorabilia and demonstrations throughout the weekend. There are plenty of food outlets to keep you satisfied over the weekend. Saturday night is our annual Auction where we auction off a variety of goods and all proceeds go back into the Field Days.
