Ebb & Flow: Untethered Fibre Artists

Untethered Fibre Artists was formed in 2017 from members of ATASDA (Australain Textile Arts & Surface Design Assciation) seeking to challenge the perceived boundaries of textile and fibre art through the exhibition of contemporary and innovative work.

The latest exhibition by the Untethered Fibre Artists explores social and environmental issues under the theme Ebb and Flow through such mediums as hand and machine stitch, felt, print, dye, weave and wirework.

In addition to the visually engaging array of exhibits, a supporting slideshow of techniques and processes will run throughout the exhibition.

Ebb and Flow is an inspiring array of hangings and sculptural pieces that demonstrate the diversity of work in the field of fibre art, presented in a way that is both inspiring and educational.

The Lady and the Unicorn

Arthur Boyd, one of Australia's most significant artists, worked across numerous mediums throughout his career, including printmaking. BOyd's success in London in the early 1960s and throughout the 1970s introduced the opportunity for numerous high profile commissions and for him to undertake collaborations with fellow artist.

London based, Australian-born, poet Peter Porter collaborated with Boyd over fifteen years and they produced between then four significant limited edition books of prints and poems. For The Lady and The Unicorn, the second project with Peter Porter, Boyd produced 24 bold and evocative etchings in response to Porter's reinterpretation of the 16th century tale that has inspired musicians, poet, novelists and artists since it's rediscovery in the 1840s.

The etchings and painting in the exhibition are all from the Bundanon Trust collection. Bundanon is Arthur and Yvonne Boyd's gift to the people of Australia, accepted by the Australian Government in 1993.
